In the first nine months of 2020, Brazilian companies imported around 74,854 tonnes of fasteners at a value of US$361 million (€305.5 million). This is 60.4% of the total tonnage for the whole of 2019.
In 2019 Brazilian companies imported 123,934 tonnes of fasteners at a value of US$621.6 million. Due to the impact of CovId-19, and the subsequent depreciation of the Brazilian currency, it is going to be difficult to make up the shortfall. By the end of the year it is predicted the total fall will be around 25% compared to last year.
