Exhibition Name: New orders of German manufacturing industry up 27.9 pct in June
| Exhibition introduction
New orders of Germany's manufacturing industry increased by 27.9 percent in June compared to the previous month, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said Thursday.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, new orders of the industry in April recorded "the largest decline since the beginning of the time series in January 1991," Destatis noted. Already in March, orders had fallen "markedly" compared to the previous month.

According to Destatis, domestic orders in June increased by 35.3 percent, while international orders rose by 22 percent compared to the previous month.

"After the initial upturn in May, the recovery of incoming orders in the manufacturing sector took a major step forward in June," Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy noted.

The ministry, however, said that orders from abroad are "lagging behind the development in Germany." This development would "show why the further recovery process will proceed more slowly."

Price-adjusted turnover in the manufacturing industry in June rose by 12.5 percent on the previous month, with the automotive industry rising "markedly" by 53.5 percent, according to the provisional results by Destatis.
