Fastenal Co. (Nasdaq: FAST), Winona, MN, reported sales for May of $383.4 million, a 14.9 percent increase year-over-year. Daily sales increased 9.7 percent to an average of $17.4 million.

Fastener sales increased 6.7% in Many ,continuing the company’s fastener success that began in February, when Fastenal said fastener sales improved 1.5%--making the company’s first uptick in fastener sales since the third quarter of 2015.

Sales in the U.S. gained 9.5%, while overall North American sales improved 9.7%.

During the month, sales to manufacturing customers improved 8.1 percent, while sales to nonresidential construction customers increased 7.2 percent.

Store count was 2,484, compared to 2,632 a year ago. Employee headcount decreased 1.4 percent year-over-year to 19,996.
