The 14th Hardware+Tools Middle East kicked off at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 11-13, 2013. China Fastener Info (CFI) attended the show with the most popular magazine CFD2013 Plus (Booth HT125).

The 2013 edition of Hardware+Tools Middle East not only saw a large Chinese Pavilion, but also for the first time, featured a pavilion from India. This is indicative of recent trends whereby Asian manufacturers and suppliers are increasingly targeting the lucrative markets of the Middle East.

According to research by Business Monitor International (BMI), total capital investment in construction and infrastructure in the UAE is set to reach AED 480.7 billion (US$ 131.7 bn) by 2016, a near doubling from the AED 284.4 bn ($ 77.4bn) invested in 2011. By 2016, the sec-tor is expected to form 24.4% of the country’s GDP, underlining the importance in the overall development of the economy.

“As the construction industry in the region builds up renewed steam fuelled by the robust economy, the Middle East market for hardware and tools becomes increasingly attractive to manufacturers from around the world,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of organiser, Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “Being the only dedicated trade platform for these industries, Hardware+Tools Middle East is the natural choice for Chinese and Indian companies looking to make an impact in the region,” he added.

It’s estimated that there were 223 exhibiting companies in the show, among which 168 companies were from Mainland China and 14 companies were from China Taiwan. There were also 16 exhibitors were from India.

The Chinese Pavilion featured 168 exhibitors, with a large number of them specializing in hand and power tools. Chinese power tools and accessories are becoming increasingly popular around the world, given their flexibility in pricing and steadily improving quality standards.

Visitors were from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait, Katar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Indian, etc. Most of them were traders, distributors and wholesalers.
