The fastener market in 2009 is still in the shade of financial crisis in 2008. CFI: Currently, many countries set up various trade barriers against Chinese export commodities one after another, like the antidumping duties that greatly impact China fastener exports. What’s your view on this matter?

Wang: There's no doubt that these trade barriers will bring positive influence to our foreign trade, for example, the improvement of product quality, but the influence is negative on the whole, which will restrict our exports and investment. As an enterprise, we must cope with this matter in the following aspects: Firstly, we must fully understand the new trade barriers and strengthen our awareness of self-protection; secondly, we must improve our technology and management level; thirdly, we must strictly follow national laws and regulations and establish export credit risk management.


CFI: As far as I know, Jiaxing Sini's products are mainly exported to North America and Europe. How do you react towards the financial crisis and EU’s antidumping duties?

Wang: We can say we've experienced a lot of difficulties for these two years, from RMB appreciation to dramatic increase of material cost, from the outburst of financial crisis to the final announcement of antidumping duties. Compared with RMB appreciation and rise in material cost, financial crisis and antidumping do impact us most. However, we think it’s natural for some losses. The most precious part of us Jiaxing Sini is our always positive measures towards difficulties and constant improvement of our product quality: Firstly, we improve our techniques, update production equipment and maximize our production efficiency; secondly, we establish scientific quality inspection system and increase reserve personnel; thirdly, we enhance the technical training for staffs to improve their operation level.


CFI: You’ve mentioned that Jiaxing Sini will further develop new markets in 2009. How do you fulfill this goal?

Wang: We will make great efforts to develop new markets, such as South America and Africa. Referring to the specific approach, of course, we will highlight our strength—quality and service. Our mission is to respect customers, understand customers, exceed customers’ expectations, and to be a reliable partner.


CFI: The registration application on trademark "Iron Haiyan" of Haiyan Fastener Industry has been accepted recently. As one of Haiyan fastener enterprises, what do you think of it?

Wang: Fastener industry is the pillar of Haiyan traditional industries. This move will promote the popularity of Haiyan fastener industry significantly, and also do well to the healthy development of the whole industry. It shows that our whole fastener industry is actively finding solutions to overcome all difficulties. It’s good and I believe the fastener industry will be more and more prosperous with the common endeavor of fastener people.
