Guo says ball-lock pins are usually used for fastening as well as locating operations. Some other applications include machinery manufacturing, nut and bolt replacement, mining machinery, automobile industry, agricultural machinery and electronics.
Founded in 2002, HKS (full name: Beijing Zhongshirong Technical Development Co., Ltd) is a company specialized in manufacturing and designing aviation ground facilities. In 2006, HKS developed ball-lock pins for aviation. Having been trial produced of more than ten lots, the special fasteners were standardized in January 2007. At present, HKS can offer quick release ball-lock pins in five types of handle and provide as many as 21 specifications in total. Metric and inch size are both available.

According to HKS General Manager Mr. Guo Guangqi, aviation standard is much stricter than GB. It excels in anti-shear and anti-fatigue performances that are required by the aviation field. Guo says, "We mainly make aviation ground products. When producing facilities for aviation factories according to drawings, manufacturers are troubled by ball-lock pins, for it takes a long time for the foreign ball-lock pins to arrive and they are often prohibited from shipment. As a result, we established an independent technological team. Today, our technology is finally recognized by the aviation area. We have made tremendous efforts before we enter this special fastener field."

There are lots of advantages in HKS's ball-lock pins: Loose-proof. Once the button is depressed, the steel balls retract into the pin allowing the pin to be removed from the hole; they have a high-strength stiff mechanical stop that prevents the pin from being removed unless the release button on the handle is depressed. High precision. Pins are divided into fastening pins and locating pins according to diameter and clamping length. Wide applications. You may choose stainless steel or alloy steel based on the environment; you may also choose from 5 types of handle (Type L, Type T, Type B, Type R, Type M) based on the available space of the handle.

Guo says ball-lock pins are usually used for fastening as well as locating operations. Some other applications include machinery manufacturing, nut and bolt replacement, mining machinery, automobile industry, agricultural machinery and electronics.

Currently, HKS has successfully separated the products into two categories, that is, products of special technology and of general standard technology. We are going to establish an agent system this year to promote ball-lock pins according to schedule. Guo says, "We look forward to establishing partnership with famous companies in a way of OEM or agent."
